Obituary for Joyce Pauline Roper Street

Joyce Pauline Roper Street, 88, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on August 27, 1930 in Carter, Oklahoma to Paul Van Buren and Velva (Fenimore) Roper. She went to walk the heavenly streets of gold with her, Lord and Savior, on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Pauline graduated from Carter High School, Class of 1948. She married her friend and sweetheart, Gilmer Street on October 9, 1947 in Wheeler, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1982.
She worked at her parent’s restaurant, Roper’s Café, in Carter for several years before going to work as a teacher’s aid at Carter Public Schools for six years. Pauline also worked for ONG in Carter, the Carter Public Service Co. and served as the Carter City Clerk. She also spent her time helping the elderly in their homes.
Pauline enjoyed music, reading and visiting with her family and friends. She could have been the best Wal-Mart greeter just because she never met a stranger she could not talk to. Pauline will be missed greatly by all of those that knew her.
She was a former member of the Carter Baptist Church where she taught the Young Adult Sunday School class for over twenty years. Pauline was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Dr. Russell Duck will officiate. Interment will be at Carter Cemetery in Carter, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is her two sons, Lynton Street of Erick, Oklahoma and Kevin Street of Elk City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Sheena Dunn of Elk City, Oklahoma and Sydeney Street of Erick, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren, Kasen Dunn and Kane Dunn.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer Street, parents, Paul and Velva Roper.
