Obituary for Ruth Audean Beck

Ruth Audean Beck, 90, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on May 18, 1928 in Gentry, Arkansas. She is the daughter of George Earl and Alta Vivian (West) Tenbrook. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.
She attended all of her school years in Gentry, Arkansas.
Ruth married her childhood sweetheart, J.D. Beck, November 2, 1946 in Elk City, Oklahoma. J.D. preceded her in death on May 12, 2018.
Ruth and J.D. started a propane business in 1955. She was a bookkeeper and helped operate the business until their retirement in 1978. After retirement, Ruth and J.D. spent many years traveling the United States.
Ruth enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing and quilting.
She always enjoyed celebrating kids’ birthdays with homemade cake and ice cream and special games to play. Ruth also loved helping with wedding and baby showers.
Ruth was a member of the Canute First Baptist church where she helped in the nursery. Later Ruth was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Ed Wrather will officiate and Dr. Russell Duck will assist. Interment will be at Canute Cemetery in Canute, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is one son, David Beck and his wife, Debbie of Elk City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Brenda Bronn and her husband, Perry of Elk City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Brent Beck and Brad Beck of Canute, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Tenbrook of Sterling, Kansas and Dallas Tenbrook of Wichita, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Beck; parents, George and Alta Tenbrook, one grandson, Brian Beck; two brothers, Marvin and Johnnie; one sister, Annie Brandon.
