Obituary for Wiley Presler Lewis

Wiley Presler Lewis was born on May 4, 1930 in Dibble, Oklahoma. He was the son of Pate & Beaulah Lewis. Wiley passed away on October 17, 2019 at the Clinton Veteran’s Center where he was surrounded by his family and friends. Wiley lived at the Clinton Veteran’s Center for the last 12 years where he had great care and considered the staff as a second family.

Wiley was in the United States Army during the Korean War. He loved his country and was proud to serve.

On February 11, 1972 Wiley married his longtime sweetheart, Helen Snook. Wiley operated a Dozer Service in Hammon, OK and one of his proudest accomplishments was helping to build Foss Dam. He was a firm believer in working long hours and staying until the job was complete.

What little spare time he had was spent with family and friends. His love for airplanes, guns, playing the fiddle and listening to Bluegrass Music were favorite pastimes.

Cherishing his memory are his step-son, Bill Boulware and wife, Pam of Dowagiac, Michigan; brother, Wade Lewis and wife, Lou of Aubrey, Texas; sister, Winnie Mooney of Elk City, Oklahoma; Sister-in-law, Thelma Lewis of Elk City, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Brittany Guntner & Jacob Boulware; 13 nieces and nephews; and a special pen pal friend, Brooklyn Bell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pate & Beulah; his wife Helen; brothers, Willie, Wesley and Wallace; sister-in-law, Quita Lewis; brother-in-law, Lowell Mooney and nephew, Justin Lewis.

The family would like to thank Dr. Denise Johnson, the nurses, social workers, and the entire staff at the Clinton Veteran’s Center for loving our Uncle Wiley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Community Fellowship Church in Hammon, Oklahoma. Family friend, Pastor Dolan Ivey will officiate. Interment will be at Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Memorials can be made to the Red Hill Cemetery in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 707 Elk City, Oklahoma 73648. On-line condolences can be sent to the family by using the on-line guest book at www.martin-duggerfuneralhome.com
